A major Italy Wine Theft case emerges from Tuscany.
Here, it has been reported that nearly 30,000 bottles of premium red wine were stolen from the warehouse of Marchesi Antinori, one of the world’s renowned wine companies. The value of the stolen goods is estimated at about 5 million euros, roughly 5.5 billion rupees. According to reports, the thieves fled with wine crates loaded into two trucks. Following the incident, the company and police have been engaged in investigating the case.
It is said that the theft occurred last weekend at the company’s warehouse in Cortona, Tuscany. When an employee arrived at the warehouse on Monday morning, he discovered the theft. Initial information indicates that the thieves targeted the security system and left with a large consignment of expensive wine stored in the warehouse.
According to Reuters and AFP, seven masked individuals were seen on surveillance footage. It was reported that the suspects first disabled the security alarm and then began loading wine crates into two trucks. After completing the entire robbery, they fled the scene.
The company claims this is its largest warehouse. Premium wine bottles were packed there for shipment to various countries. The consignment was stolen before it could be dispatched. The disappearance of such a large quantity of expensive wine is not only a financial loss for the company but also a serious security issue.
Police are now attempting to identify the suspects based on available surveillance footage and other potential evidence. It will also be important to determine where the trucks used in the robbery originated and which direction they were taken after the theft.
